ETSI EN 300 019 Environmental Engineering (EE); Environmental Conditions and Environmental Tests for Telecommunications Equipment

This multi-part European Telecommunication Standard (ETS) document is concerned with environmental conditions and environmental tests for telecommunications equipment and comprises two main parts, each with subdivisions.

ETSI EN 300 019-1: "Classification of environmental conditions"

Part 1 specifies different standardized environmental classes covering climatic and biological conditions, chemically and mechanically active substances and mechanical conditions during storage, transportation and in-use.

  • Part 1-0: Introduction. V2.1.2 (2003-09)
  • Part 1-1: Storage. V2.1.4 (2003-04)
  • Part 1-2: Transportation. V2.1.4 (2003-04)
  • Part 1-3: Stationary use at weather protected locations. V2.2.2 (2004-07)
  • Part 1-4: Stationary use at non-weather protected locations. V2.1.2 (2003-04)
  • Part 1-5: Ground vehicle installations. V2.1.4 (2003-04)
  • Part 1-6: Ship environments. V2.1.4 (2003-04)
  • Part 1-7: Portable and non-stationary use. V2.1.4 (2003-04)
  • Part 1-8: Stationary use at underground locations. V2.1.4 (2003-04)

Part 1-3 and Part 1-4 are applicable to enclosures and cabinets manufactured by Purcell Systems. The purpose of these documents is to define a class of environmental conditions and their severities to which equipment may be exposed. Only severe conditions, which may be harmful to the equipment, are included. The severities specified are those which will have a low probability of being exceeded; generally less than 1 %. This document applies to equipment mounted for stationary use at weather and non-weather protected locations.

ETSI EN 300 019-2: "Specification of environmental tests"

Part 2 specifies the recommended test severities and test methods for the different environmental classes.

  • Part 2-0: Introduction. V2.1.2 (2003-09)
  • Part 2-1: Specification of environmental tests; Storage V2.1.2 (2000-09)
  • Part 2-2: Transportation. V2.1.2 (1999-09)
  • Part 2-3: Stationary use at weather protected locations. V2.2.2 (2003-04)
  • Part 2-4: Stationary use at non-weather protected locations. V2.2.2 (2003-04)
  • Part 2-5: Ground vehicle installations. V3.0.0 (2002-12)
  • Part 2-6: Ship environments. V3.0.0 (2002-12)
  • Part 2-7: Portable and non-stationary use. V3.0.1 (2003-04)
  • Part 2-8: Stationary use at underground locations. V2.1.2 (1999-09)

Part 2-3 and Part 2-4 are applicable to enclosures and cabinets manufactured by Purcell Systems. The purpose of these documents is to specify the test severities and methods for verification of the required resistibility for equipment which is to be stored, transported and used in the environments stated in Part 1. The purpose of the environmental testing is to demonstrate that equipment under defined environmental conditions can survive without irreversible failures and perform according to requirements. These tests are not reliability tests or lifetime tests.
